News at Seven
November 24th, 2006You cant help but be completely amazed as you watch the News at Seven it presents the news in the most original and compelling ways i’ve seen, definately one of the most interesting developments on the web i’ve seen in a long time.
News at Seven is completely automatic, it uses the web to find news for each day, then goes and finds videos and images that are relevant to play along with it, it also searches the blogosphere to find relevant comments on that news story, the whole thing without human intervention. more here.
Paramount Pictures
November 23rd, 2006
My first proper solo show is coming up in January (opening reception January 17th). So I’m working hard to get everything finalised.
The piece in the picture is called Paramount Pictures, its taken from the intro animation at the start of Paramount Pictures’ films. The animation in the form of a series of 35mm slides shows only a section of the snowline where the sun hits it on the Paramount mountain. A series of 80 slides forms a slow motion abstraction of a very recognizable logo.

Parable, Temporary Contemporary - The Dark Side of The Rainbow
May 24th, 2006I’ve just got a new studio in Forest Hill - for a few days anyway - to prepare for a show starting on the 31st May. The show is called Parable, and its at Temporary Contemporary in Deptford. I’m making a piece of work called Dark Side of the Rainbow which stems from an old rumour that if you combine the Dark Side of the Moon by Pink Floyd with The Wizard of Oz (i.e. use the album as the film’s soundtrack) they merge perfectly. This mash-up of film and album was dubbed by previous remixers as The Dark Side of The Rainbow.
The work will involve a few different elements related to The Dark Side of The Rainbow phenomenon.
Visiting Lecturer at Leeds Met
April 2nd, 2006I gave my first lecture after the Royal College (if you don’t include a seminar at Hull) last Monday 27th March. Daunting, but really rewarding. I had 2 full days of tutoring the students on the Fine Art BA course at Leeds Met. Theres some great work being made there and a real determination amoung the students - can’t wait to back and see how its all progressing.
15, 450 milligrams of the Evian mountain
March 3rd, 2006If you saw the show 6, 180 milligrams of the Evian mountain and were wondering why the name has changed in my portfolio - well this is why:
Its part of an ongoing project that started at HAL (see it here in the portfolio) where i boiled Evian away as part of an installation. When the show at Reception Space was named I envisaged that 20 litres of Evian water was the maximum I would be able to boil by the time the show started. However, I refined my evapouration technique and managed to get 50 litres boiled away.
It was too late to rename the show at the time, and conceptually it wasn’t too much of an issue, but I felt that I wanted the exact amount in the online portfolio - so i’ve renamed it.
